Sorry for abandoning you for a month or so! Contrary to what you may have assumed by this point, Zac and I did not get buried in a snowbank nor eaten by bears on the Al-Can highway (although it didn't take long for us to get charged by a moose here in Alaska). We made it here safely and I have pictures to prove it! Our reunion with Jess and Jon was long, happy, and boozy.
At some point in the next few weeks, Zac will sit down and write a little something to cap off this trip of a lifetime. In the meantime, we'll be posting pictures and stories over at zacyjoy.blogspot.com.
We've circled our way back to Alaska, but we haven't come back the same. And Zac and I are looking forward to exploring this land together in a new way. As it always is, one things ends and another begins. See you on down the road!

North to Alaska
Thursday morning, Zac and I woke up to an alarm for the first time in ages, grabbed our trusty backpacks, and headed north.
We had been on the road for only four hours when we ran into this:
The ice was piling up on every surface and vehicles were flying off the road everywhere we looked. We ended up bedding down in Shelby, Montana that night, far short of our original goal.
We crossed into Canada on Friday and drove through more of the same -- snow, ice, temperatures we haven't seen since the last time we made this drive, and no sun to speak of.
But finally today, the sky cleared and we went from snowstorm to winter wonderland!
And this afternoon, we drove into Dawson Creek, British Colombia, and started down the World Famous Alaska Highway.
We're halfway done and just begun. Here's to clear skies and safe travels!
