A Quick Trip Home

On what could be charitably called a whim, Zac and I made the 1,400-mile, three-day drive to Yorkville, during which we camped twice on the side of the highway and lost control of the Gorp's cruise function. When we arrived, however, we were greeted with one homemade butterscotch pie, two brand-new babies, and three Austintown Doverspikes who had made their own last-minute, eight-hour drive across the country to hang out with us for twenty-four hours. It doesn't get much better than that.

Zac and I also made a couple of trips into the city to have a picnic in the park with Annemarie and to play with some of our favorite nieces, who seem to just get cuter with each visit.

We had such a good time that we stayed for two extra days -- something that came as a surprise to absolutely no one, I'm sure -- and only reluctantly re-boarded the Gorp for the drive back west. At least, I was reluctant; Zac gets the shakes if he spends too much time on the other side of the Mississippi.
